Activity Overview
While intraocular pressure (IOP) has been considered the primary defining characteristic of open-angle glaucoma, it is more accurately defined as an optic neuropathy involving atrophy of the optic nerve head, which can be accompanied by elevated IOP. In the United States, it is estimated that there are over 3 million people with open-angle glaucoma. These patients have considerably reduced quality of life and difficulties with normal activities of daily living and are more likely to report falls and motor vehicle accidents.
This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the Controversies in Modern Eyecare meeting, held in April 2023. This unique and engaging multi-media activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with glaucoma, putting recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.
